Join us for the 20th edition of Small Packages!

This show has been one of Cumberland Gallery’s longstanding traditions since the early 90’s and features an eclectic selection of work from established and emerging artists. From November 11th through December 23rd, we exhibit in our upstairs gallery a variety of paintings, works on paper, sculpture, book art and prints. Small Packages runs simultaneously with The Professors in the lower galleries, a group show with six artists who have been important educators while maintaining successful and independent careers as practicing artists. Both shows will open with a reception on Saturday November 11th (6-8PM).

For this year's edition of Small Packages we invited 22 artists. Familiar faces such as Marilyn Murphy, Fred Stonehouse, Billy Renkl, Lori Field, Tom Pfannerstill, Mark Hosford, Andrew Saftel, and Warren Greene will present new work. Some favorite artists from past editions, including Craig Cully, Jenny Honnert Abell, Leslie Tucker, and Deloss Webber are welcomed back as well as book artists Kathleen O’Connell, Andrew Hayes and Jody Alexander. Other out-of-state guest artists are Patrick Adams (KY) Willow Banks (CA), Jaynie Gillman Crimmins (NY), Erin Palovick (GA), Heather Patterson (CA), Caroline Waite (KY), Lisa Weiss (KY). Even though the majority of participating artists are known for their exceptional work on small scale, some diverged from their preferred large medium to create unique pieces for the occasion.

To truly present small packages, we encouraged artists to remain within a 10” x 10” parameter.This size limitation resulted in the creation of intricate and finely-crafted work, perfect for the gift-giving season or to enhance your personal collection. Small Packages is much loved by our clientele and gallery staff so be sure to stop in early or during our extended hours on Thursday, December 7th when we will be open until 8 PM. On the last day of the show, December 23rd, we will have regular opening hours from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
