David French

David French was born in St. Louis and received his BFA at the Atlanta College of Art in Georgia. He moved to Seattle in the early 1990s after an extended stay in Europe. French has exhibited widely in numerous galleries across the country and in Europe. French's sculpture involves the synthesis of working with carved wood and paint. He often starts by creating a number of elements, and through play and trial and error these elements begin to take shape. As the work evolves, French discovers the character, coherence, and balance that breathes life into each piece.
