Cumberland Gallery, Nashville’s premier contemporary art gallery, is pleased to announce the celebration of its 30th anniversary. To mark the event, there will be a special exhibition beginning with the opening reception on April 10 from 6-8PM. It is free and the public is invited. The gallery’s extraordinary roster of outstanding southeastern and nationally known artists will be highlighted. Many of the artists have created works to honor this special event.
First established in 1980, Cumberland Gallery has focused on showcasing high quality work by emerging and well-established artists working in Tennessee and the southeast as well as nationally renowned artists. Owner Carol Stein had defined the gallery’s aesthetic by discovering and promoting artists with a truly distinctive vision who demonstrate a high level of technical skill. The gallery offers engaging contemporary art in a variety of media including paintings, works on paper, sculpture, photography and limited edition prints.
Under Carol Stein’s direction the gallery has achieved acclaim at national level juried art fairs across the country. This year Cumberland Gallery participated in the Los Angeles Art Fair and will be participating in ART Chicago in late April. Earlier involvement has included representation at national juried fairs in San Francisco, New York, Miami, and Seattle. The observation heard most often from visitors at the fairs is that Cumberland Gallery presents a refreshing collection of works with a unique vision that is not seen anywhere else.
The 30th Anniversary Exhibition will showcase a selection of artists - all represented by the gallery –that will include Marilyn Murphy, Barry Buxkamper, Bob Durham, Dane Carder, Jeff Danley, Johan Hagaman, Kit Reuther, Andrew Saftel, Jack Spencer and Mark Hosford .
